PosPos Compost

"PosPos Compost is a student circle founded from the composting activities that had been conducted as an experiment since July 2021. The idea of this project is based on the "Circular Economy" concept which is to collect food scraps from AP House and turned it into fertilizer. The final products is then transported to the fields in Hinode and Tsukahara Plateau."




The PosPos Compost is currently consisted of 3 core members who is a former RA (Resident Assistant) of the AP House, this project is also supported and supervised by Dr. Sudo Tomonori and Dr. Jones Thomas from Environment and Development cluster of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) along with other 8 individuals acting as supporters. The main objectives behind this projects is as follow:

  • Reduction of waste throughout AP House dormitory, campus and to encourage the effective use of food waste among the residents.

  • Increase the awareness and potential for sorting out food waste by students through this project.

  • Converting food waste into fertilizers which then to be used to help produce vegetables and crops in fields.

  • Installing electric composter to process food waste in campus and AP House dormitory.

  • Contribute to advancing the SDG Goal 12 "Responsibility to Create, Responsibility to Use"
